JPSearch RA history

The need for the provision of a JPSearch registration authority came from the specification of Part 2 of the JPSearch standard, published in June 2011. Subclause 3.3.3 of ISO/IEC 24800-2:2011 (Information technology -- JPSearch -- Part 2: Registration, identification and management of schema and ontology) specifies that "a global authority for schemas and their translation rules will be established where all JPSearch compliant retrieval applications can obtain the information needed". The 14th of July 2010 (52nd ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29/WG 1 meeting in Brussels) JPEG published a "Preliminary Call for JPSearch Metadata Registration Authority" (document ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29/wg1n5503). A response from DMAG-UPC was submitted to the 53rd JPEG meeting in Ghuangzou ("DMAG-UPC Response to JPEG's Call for JPSearch Metadata Registration Authority" , document ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 29/wg1n5559). During the 54th JPEG meeting in Tokyo was approved (resolution 24th) the document "Requirements for JPSearch Part 2 (24800-2) Registration Authority" (document wg1n5706). The 28th of February 2011 it was requested the approval of DMAG-UPC's application at SC29 level (document wg1n5758, "Request for Endorsement of Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya as JTC 1 Registration Authority (RA) of ISO/IEC 24800-2"). The 2nd of May 2011 it was published the "Summary of Response to Request for Endorsement of Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya as JTC 1 Registration Authority (RA) of ISO/IEC 24800-2" (document wg1n5783). The 12nd de May 2011 it was requested the approval of DMAG-UPC's application at SC29 level ( "Request for JTC 1 Approval of Nomination for Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya as JTC 1 Registration Authority (RA) of ISO/IEC 24800-2 [JTC 1 N 10593]", document wg1n5784). Finally, on February 2012 the ISO Technical Management Board approved the nomination of the Distributed Multimedia Applications Group (DMAG-UPC) as the Registration Authority for ISO/IEC 24800-2, in accordance with TMB Resolution 5/2012.
